Origami books

We carried on with the origami books..
I was hoping to finish them, but almost......! I want to photocopy the pages so each group member has a book to take home to remember the project and there will be one to hang in the house to show the groups` ideas around a sense of home.

2nd Feb Hanging the washing out!

Using the words we had thought of in the previous session we brought in old clothes and fabric from home and turned them into words that represented home and hung them on a washing line.

26th Jan A sense of home

In the second session we worked on making an origami book of ideas-each student created a page of the book. We each thought of five words that meant a sense of home to us and then created abstract shapes to express each word. Using the shapes and collage materials each student created a pattern for their page.

12 th Jan Catch-up

Apologies for not blogging sooner- I`ll back track. My first session with the textile girls was about trying to encourage them to think in an abstract way, so we created sculptures from white paper which represented a colour and then tried to guess what colour was being expressed.

4th February. Cold, some snow still about

Session went OK today. It was great that Sean and I were both there, as the boys could move from one activity to another, they seem to prefer this, and it feels like activities can feed into each other. Interesting discussion today prompted by one of the boys (I'm rubbish at remembering names) asked if I had a girlfriend.... I think its good that if WE are asking them to talk honestly, or with some 'meaning' that we do too.

Sean and I are going to try to coincide our sessions together from now. For my next session, I'm going to look at disguises, using props, costumes, characters, and take portraits from there. Hopefully this will all add to the mix.
